This set of six wines was produced by Chalk Hill Wines, Australia to showcase what six different winemakers would do with one part of Chalk Hill’s Heritage Vineyard. This vintage set was the first release and is long discontinued. We however, despite enormous temptation neither drank it nor put it on sale! We did however taste the wines included at a special event almost a decade ago. All the wines were gloriously expressive, individual and built to last. Having been carefully cellared we believe they have reached a great drinking window.
This set represents a once in a lifetime opportunity to try rare, mature McClaren Vale Shiraz at the hands of six trailblazing winemakers. As the wines were made with grapes from one place and one moment in time, the only variable was the influence of the winemaker. It is therefore a rare tasting insight into personality and individual skill in the wine making world. Presented in a one-of-a-kind wooden crate with a booklet holding detailed notes about the ethos of the project and the winemakers involved, together with their notes on the wine they created.
